Literary Analysis of Bigong Pagasa

Bigong Pag-asa is original composition of Leona Floretino, It was originally written in Ilocano entitled, Nalpay a Namnama. The point of view of the poem is all about the concept of love. It talks about how to be loved and unloved and to love someone without receiving in return. The poem conveys the essence of love and the happiness it gives when you have someone to love, sharing all the joy, laughter and even in painful moments. In the third stanza, it shows the opposite of the idea of being loved. It illustrates how hurtful it is when you don’t have someone to dedicate your life with. It seems happiness doesn’t exists when you feel unloved, living your days all by yourself. The world you are breathing in and out is like a survival without any purpose. All you can see are all troubles, pain, and sufferings. And the rest of the parts explain the feeling of being in love. It shows what love can do when this thing called love strikes you.

You can do everything beyond your imagination when you are deeply in love to someone as if you have super powers to conquer the world. Love will make your life full of meaning, colors and variance.

The poem summarizes the faces of love and how it affects our lives. It gives us realization what love can do to our present condition as a person.
